In your own creative definition or description, please share who you are :::
A wanderer with a pen and paper. Sometimes I write stuff down, other times I draw, collect and share.
Please describe a meaningful experience in nature from your childhood :::
Finding and discovering. Nature was somewhere I was fearless in my curiosity. I would spend much of my waking time watching insects, fish, and tadpoles in the shallows of lakes and ponds, digging in the dirt looking for worms, pill bugs, beetles, and roots of plants, tasting the fruit from the trees, moving through bushes and climbing trees so I can look into nests of ducks and other birds. Finding frogs, turtles, lizards. It always felt so private, and intimate. And much like discovering a secret that could never really be understood even if told.
What role, significance or theme does the natural world hold for your life today?
Play. Nature is playful, beautiful and quiet in its awe. It is something we still live in and are wholey a part of even in our homes, work, and daily lives. When we water a plant, prepare food, eat, write a poem, or talk about the weather we are invoking something larger than ourselves. Nature reminds me to play, and for all the seriousness of living, there is so much beauty and fun to be had.
Prey
Ebony is the night,
Majestic and fierce,
Placid calm floats in air,
Like dust shaken from the bull.
Only listless wanderers venture forth
through the cataclysmic dark,
Unbeknownst they have joined the hunt
