Prep day with EXYO
When I get to deeply connect with communities where I have exhibitions, the artwork is unquestionably better. This often happens through art making, education programming and co-exploring. There is an element of reciprocity. We’re all giving something to one another.
.
As part of the year long exploration portion of my project, Where the Questions Live with @peabodyessex, I’ve been able to connect with other deep-hearted and vital organizations on the North Shore of Massachusetts, and team up with them as part of a wider “project family.”
.
Today I had the great pleasure of jumping in @expressyourselfinc (Exyo) 🏆 They serve young people through the arts who have suffered trauma, experienced loss, are in recovery programs; residential; and impatient care, and who deal with mental illness. They folks legit are a true HOME. There is serious love shared in there Beverly headquarters y’all. Definitely check them out. https://www.exyo.org/
.
They asked me to collaborate with them on set design elements and tomorrow we open the doors for the young people who will paint and create art and set pieces for their large scale performance in Boston in May. There will be around 300 kids involved in this ambitious production and I am elated to be amongst all these amazing people.
.
Today we prepped, tomorrow we paint 🎨
