We Live in the Home, that Lives in the Ivy
We Live in the Home, that Lives in the Ivy
We live in the home,
that lives in the ivy
with its brick walls
and its fire escape
its four windows
and its brass door knob
Today is the first day
we have lived in you
We have brought
our house plants
to meet you as well
They’re getting
along great so far
Starting from now on,
we’ll live a life in you
dream dreams in you
plant plants in you
But, we’ll remember
our old homes too
Please don’t
take offense
We have loved
the homes we
come from
and
we’ll miss them…
The same way
someday,
when we leave
from here -
we will miss you
and we’ll
remember
standing in
the street,
looking up
thinking -
We live in the home,
that lives in the ivy
